The Atheist

An atheist loves himself and humanity, he's above any religion or religious practices. He believes in humanity. He does not "fear god" and everything that he does is out of his love for his fellow human.

I read the story "broken ties" by Rabindranath Tagore. Its a beautiful description of relationships and the passion underlying each of the relationships. The root of this story is a character who is an atheist. This character is a blessing to the entire human race. He does all things good for fellow humans except worshipping the many idols. Though i dont believe in "god" but i do sense the presence of some mighty strong force of nature that holds together the entire universe and its many components, perhaps the centre of gravity!! I highly appreciated the "atheist uncle" in "broken ties", he helped the needy......the needy was the one who was in real need........poor and hungry and helpless is not always the needy, the needy may be the poor, hungry and helpless but is a survivor and wants to come out of his misery and wants to swim out from the mess of impoverishment.

An atheist accepts that he can get no help from prayers, but that he must in himself find the conviction and inner strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it and enjoy it. According to an atheist in his knowledge of himself and knowledge of his fellow human can he find the understanding that will lead to a life of fulfillment. He firmly beleives that its only by our actions can we be worthy of life's trials and tribulations.

From the time we start understanding spoken words and sounds made by everyone around us we are taught a lot of ethics, an ocean of rights and wrongs, does and donts........we grow with these set of rules and our thinkng and life gets moulded. Its only when some incident in our life shakes and wakes us up from the long sleep of illusion and bewilderment and we see life in the light of the pure rays of the sun. Lot of these illusions around us get cleared when we begin to see beyond us, beyond our needs and likes and dislikes, and when we find a cause for selfless love to humanity without demanding love in return.
